Founded in 2002 by best friends Carol Lim and Humberto Leon, Opening Ceremony began as a single multi-brand boutique in New York City. We handpicked emerging and cult labels from around the globe, offering our discerning customers access to exciting new designers they couldn’t find anywhere else.
Over the years, Opening Ceremony has grown into a leading fashion brand renowned for our playful take on style. But our mission remains the same: to bring innovative, artistic clothing to fashion lovers across the globe.
From Local Boutique to Global Brand
That first Opening Ceremony store on Howard Street captured the pioneering spirit of New York City. It quickly became a hangout for creatives seeking cutting-edge fashion discoveries.
As our reputation grew, we expanded domestically and internationally. Today Opening Ceremony has flagship stores from New York to Tokyo, along with an ever-growing online presence.
